Free Gladis Yolanda Chavez Pineda – A Mother, Grandmother & Community Leader Detained by ICE
On June 4, 2025, Gladis Yolanda Chavez Pineda was detained during a surprise check-in at the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program (ISAP) Chicago office (2245 S Michigan Ave), despite full compliance with her supervision requirements and wearing an ankle monitor.
Gladis has been living in the U.S. for over 10 years while actively pursuing asylum. An immigration judge found her to pose no public safety threat and allowed her to remain in the community. She has no criminal record.
Gladis is a devoted mother and grandmother who works in construction and spends her time supporting others through her leadership in Organized Communities Against Deportations (OCAD). She has mentored countless members and continues to be a source of strength and care.
Detaining Gladis is unnecessary, harmful, and inhumane. Her case is a clear example of someone who should be granted discretion—not punishment.
We urge ICE to immediately release Gladis and stop targeting individuals with deep ties to our communities.
Let’s stand with Gladis and say: No more family separation. No more detentions, no more deportations!
